“ Such an amazing experience ! My husband had the iced coquito latte and loved it. I had a mocktail which was perfect for being 8 months pregnant. Not many options for kids drinks but they did have cranberry juice available for our toddler. The BEST French Toast of my life; it was like eating the fluffiest pound cake ever. We also got the candied bacon and flounder skillet that was delicious. For toddler we split our mains and got him the potatoes and side fruit. Drinks and food came quickly and we seemed to have beat the Saturday brunch crowd. ”

The service was satisfactory. Our host/waiter was relatively disinterested, distracted, and a bit on the rude side. Nestled in a charming old brothel, this spot oozes character and history, making it the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable meal. The shrimp and grits were absolutely delicious perfectly seasoned and comforting. The Smokin’ Skillet was bursting with flavors, with a creamy texture that felt like a warm hug in every bite. Their lavender honey latte was nothing short of divine, with just the right balance of floral sweetness. And don’t even get me started on the fried green tomatoes hands down the best I’ve ever had, crispy perfection! Sugar & Rye combines incredible food, a unique atmosphere, and a touch of history. “ Ten out of effing ten! The decor and ambiance represent Galveston perfectly... upscale beachy chic with a historic flair. The service was fantastic; attentive but gave us space, and made excellent suggestions... one of them being the Brie. Holy sh!t, you can make an entree out of that alone! Phenomenal. Orgasmic. Along those same exact lines were our entrees. I tried some of the tuna on the salad and the flavour was fantastic. I decided on the crabcake sandwich after seeing the words "Maryland-style"... I'm an east coast seafood girl to my core, and trust me when I say there is a Maryland chef working here for sure. OUTSTANDING! It is straight out of Maryland. I ate the entire beautiful thing, fries included, and I usually take half my meals home with me when dining out. I'm looking so forward to the next delectable visit where I'll try very hard to order different cocktails too, since there are so many that sound incredible. The Sucre 75 won my tastebuds twice in a row this time. Spectacular all around in every inch, every bite, and every sip. ”
